Saxlund’s first flat-bottom silo was designed and patented in 1947 because a system for feeding wet sawdust and chips to Saxlund’s biomass furnaces was needed. Since then, Saxlund has become synonymous with fuel and ash handling equipment designed for the bioenergy industry.

Bar Feeder

Saxlund’s Bar Feeder is designed for difficult, non-free flowing bulk materials and is therefore mainly suitable for the cement industry, district heating plants, chipboard and wood chip manufacturers and for sludge handling in the water industry.

The Bar Feeder is designed by Saxlund International Group for square and rectangular bunkers. The flat bottom provides many benefits, and the Bar Feeder can be used in a variety of configurations to suit different needs, such as reliable discharge and accurate metering solutions.

TubeFeeder

The patented TubeFeeder ® is designed to provide a continuous, high volume discharge of bulk materials.

The system is energy efficient, consuming as little as 25% of the power needed for traditional exposed screws. It provides for a gentle handling of materials and can be installed in flat-bottomed bunkers and silos with large spans and diameters, as well as large open stockpiles.

The TubeFeeder ® is well suited for processes that require a high degree of accuracy. It is a superior solution for industries that place high demands on efficiency and performance in their material handling processes.

Optimum discharge for silos

The Sliding Frame technology was developed and patented by Saxlund in the 1960s as a way to discharge non-free flowing materials from a round flat-bottom silo. Since then, Saxlund’s Sliding Frame has successfully been used around the world in thousands of installations.

The original Saxlund Sliding Frame utilizes a single frame reciprocating over the bottom of the silo. We have recently patented a new double frame that has advantages for larger silos, for example.

Features of Saxlund’s Sliding Frames:
• Efficient and easy operation.
• Uniform utilization of the material via the “first in, first out” principle.
• Maximum size of discharge openings possible.
• Careful discharge and metering of stored material on demand.
• Closed construction – no odour.
• External maintenance possible – even when the silo is full.
• The sliding frame only moves the required loose materials, resulting in low power consumption and low maintenance costs.
• Flat-bottom silos – more economical to manufacture / maximized storage.
